I know I have been delinquent in my posts but I’ve been, you know, trying to LIVE the life. I like to do an annual look back at the past year. Here are my posts from 2015 and 2016 if you want to go down memory lane.

Marathons/States Added: Five. Phoenix Marathon (Arizona), Big Sur Marathon (California), Bayshore Marathon (Michigan), Golden Gate Dirty 30 (Colorado), Mt. Hood 50K (Oregon)
Other Races: Indian Creek Fifties 15 Miler
Proudest Moment of 2017: Qualifying for Boston, obviously! Hit my goal for 2017!
Miles Run According to Strava: 858 miles (compared to 1,374 last year) with 95,302 ft of gain and 114 active days
Fitness/Food Discoveries:
- Green Chef, Blue Apron, and Hello Fresh
- Renaissance Periodization (well, really discovered in 2016 but finished up my cut in 2017!)
- Soymilk (re-discovery! why did I ever stray??? so yummy with a little iced coffee or Sherpa chai)
Staple Workouts:
- Hiking and running… keeping it basic
- Some, but not as much, pilates and Orangetheory
14ers: Three — Bierstadt, Grays, and Torreys
On My Feet:
- Nike Air Zoom (road running)
- Altra Superior (trail shoe for first half of year)
- Altra Lone Peak (trail shoe for second half of year)
Oh the Places I’ve Been:
- DC (duh)
- St. Moritz, Switzerland and Rome and Florence, Italy
- Phoenix, Arizona for racing
- Lake Tahoe, California for skiing
- Big Sur and Monterrey, California for racing
- Traverse City, Michigan for racing
- Boulder, Colorado (now my home!)
- Other Colorado spots: Denver, Aspen, Breck, Leadville, Never Summer Mountains
- Portland, Oregon for racing
- Visiting family in Maryland, Delaware, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania

- More mountaineering books: Ed Viesturs’ No Shortcuts to the Top and Andy Hall’s Denali’s Howl and Joe Simpson’s Touching the Void. Tried to read Maurice Herzog’s Annapurna but just absolutely could not make it through…
- Balancing on Blue by Keith Foskett, when I was dreaming of quitting my (old) job and hiking the AT
- Boston Bound by Elizabeth Clor to get me 100% motivated for Phoenix

What’s Streaming:
- I’ve scaled back my streaming this year but sticking with some old favorites: Top Chef, The Bachelorette (#teamdean), Transparent (still not sure if I like this one…), Orange is the New Black (same!), The Americans (the best), The Crown (so glad I am done watching because it was taking over my life), Man in the High Castle, Everest: Man vs. Mountain (it’s a thing!)
- Tried to watch The West with Ken Burns to learn about my new home but fell asleep instead
